Most rat problems trace back to broken drainage

A surprising number of pest infestations originate in damaged drainage. A cracked pipe under a kitchen extension, an unsealed disused branch, a missing cap on a redundant connection - these are entry routes that conventional pest control will not address. The rats get poisoned, baited or trapped, but more come in through the same hole.

Call2Drain approaches rat control as a drainage problem first. CCTV identifies where the drainage is letting the rats in, we seal the entry route - patch lining, capping, full relining where the pipe is too damaged - and the conventional pest control work then has a chance of holding long-term.

We work with pest control firms across Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Essex & London who refer drainage-led cases to us, and direct with homeowners and managing agents who have identified that the rats are coming up through the system rather than across from a neighbour.

Most rat problems trace back to broken drainage

A surprising number of infestations begin in damaged drainage — a cracked pipe under an extension, an unsealed disused branch, a missing cap on a redundant connection. Conventional baiting clears the rats already inside, but more keep coming up through the same hole until the drainage itself is sealed.

We treat rat control as a drainage problem first. CCTV identifies where the system is letting them in, we seal the route with patch lining, capping or full relining, and a post-works camera pass confirms the seal — so any follow-up pest control has a clean slate to work from.

How a drainage-led pest job works

01

CCTV the system

Camera through every accessible run looking for cracks, displaced joints, missing caps and other ingress routes.

02

Seal the entry

Patch lining, cap the redundant branch, or full reline the damaged section depending on the defect.

03

Confirm

Post-repair CCTV confirms the seal. Conventional pest control follow-up then has a clean slate.

Common questions

How do I know if the rats are coming from the drains?

Strongest indicator: dropping appearing in cupboards or behind kickboards in a kitchen, where there is no external entry route. A CCTV survey of the kitchen drainage usually finds the answer.

Will sealing the drain solve the problem on its own?

Usually yes for new infestations. For established colonies you need a pest control partner to clear the existing rats while we close the entry route.

Do you work with pest control firms?

Yes. Several pest control companies across Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Essex & London refer drainage-led cases to us. We can quote independently or as part of a joint visit.
